Lotus & Phoenix welcomes everyone to our practice! We specialize in three primary areas: healing from dysfunctional families and harmful religious teachings, navigating and recovering from toxic or narcissistic relationships, and finding more peace and fulfillment if you have a history of doing “the right things,” over-achieving, and being in one-sided relationships where you give a lot but no one takes care of you.
We provide care in-person and remotely. You can learn more about our different ways of connecting here. You can learn more about costs here. You can schedule in-person or remote appointments with our client portal by going here.
Our Team
Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Gish received both her master’s and doctorate from Harvard University where she studied trauma, psychoanalytic theory, and pastoral care & counseling. Elizabeth is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a member of the American Academy of Psychotherapists, and a member of ACPE (Association for Clinical Pastoral Education). You can learn more about Elizabeth here.
James Owen Gish received his master’s degree at the University of Dayton where he studied counseling. He has taught psychology at both the high school and college level for decades. Jim has studied mindfulness, mysticism, and emotional health, and is ordained in the Universal Life Church. You can learn more about Jim here.

Aragorn Gish has been trained as a psychotherapy and pastoral care cat since he was six weeks old. He was named after the Lord of the Rings character who became the first High King of the Reunited Kingdom of Gondor and Arnor. That said, Aragorn the cat has rejected his brave and kingly namesake and instead prefers cuddling therapy clients, laying in laps, purring in nearly all circumstances, not being brave at all, and eating Fancy Feast in the comfort of his warm and safe home.

Emilio Gish has been trained as a psychotherapy and pastoral care cat since his birth. He is two and has already survived two near-death experiences after he (twice) ate hair ties he mistook as a mouse tails. His enjoys curling up next to clients and purring and letting people rub his tummy so that they can feel less stressed. When he is not doing his therapy work, he enjoys chasing toys, eating treats, imagining that he is a wild lion, and pouncing on his unsuspecting cat siblings.

Maurice the Mouse Gish has trained as a psychotherapy and pastoral care mouse since childhood. He prefers to work with younger clients. He enjoys discussing feelings, sharing stories about when he was a little mouse, eating cheese, and telling jokes and being silly. Although he is somewhat bigger than most mice, he wishes to point out that he is not a rat. He also wishes to note that although he does in fact appear to be a puppet, he prefers being called a “lovie” rather than a “puppet.”
